Adebowale Adedayo

Mr. Macaroni

My name is Adebowale Adedayo, but most people know me as Mr. Macaroni. I am an Actor, a Director, a Producer, and an Advocate… but above all, I am a storyteller.

My journey into the world of entertainment began with a deep love for theatre, one that has shaped my approach to performance, whether on stage, on screen, or in the digital space. Many know me for my satirical skits, where I bring to life characters like Daddy Wa the philandering family man, and Professor Hardlife the embodiment of a frustrating academic system. Through comedy, I have found a way to reflect the realities of Nigerian society, sparking both laughter and conversation.

But my purpose extends beyond entertainment. I have always believed that art should serve a greater good. My platform has given me the opportunity to advocate for civic duty, social justice, and good governance. The #EndSARS movement in 2020 was a defining moment for me—not just as an artist, but as a citizen.

Speaking truth to power is never easy, but it is necessary, and I remain committed to using my voice for change.

Over the years, I have been honored to receive recognition for both my craft and my advocacy. Gatefield’s People Newsmaker for Social Justice Award (2022), TrendUpp Africa’s Force of Influence Award (2022 & 2023), and two AMVCA nominations—Best Online Content Creator (2020) and Best Supporting Actor (2025)—serve as reminders that I am on the right path.

Through it all, my mission remains the same: to use my voice and art as tools to entertain, to inform, and to spread a message of love.

Early Life

I was born on May 3rd, 1993, to Mr. Alao Adedayo, a journalist and founder of Alaroye newspaper, and Mrs. Dorcas Adedayo, an educationist and founder of Tender Care Schools. Though my roots trace back to Ogun state, I was born and raised in Lagos Nigeria with nine siblings.

I was that child who entertained family and friends with comic impressions—mimicking my teachers and, most famously, the charismatic evangelist Chris Oyakhilome. This love for performance naturally led me to the stage in church and at school, where one of my most memorable roles was in primary six, performing The Merchant of Venice play.

These early experiences have culminated into a lifelong passion for the arts.

Education

I began my education at Tender Care Schools (1996–2002), founded by my mother, before moving on to Babcock University High School, Ogun State, where I served as Head Boy and graduated in 2009. However, my higher education journey was anything but straightforward, spanning four universities before I earned a B.A. in Theater Arts from Redeemer’s University in 2018. There, I was expertly shaped as a thespian under the mentorship of Professor Ahmed Parker Yerima, former Director General of the Nigerian National Theater.

Beyond academics, I was active in student leadership, serving as President of the Redeemer’s University Students’ Association and President of the Graduating Class in 2017. My advocacy for student welfare often put me at odds with the administration and this outspoken nature has followed me throughout my career – shaping both my work as a performer and my role as a social advocate.

Career

I started my acting career in Nollywood even before earning my degree, during this time, I came up with the moniker Mr Macaroni in the spur of the moment while on set. But after graduating the top of my class, I struggled to secure bigger roles or find characters I truly connected with.

In 2019, I turned to social media, creating short comedy skits that quickly gained traction. My breakthrough character, Daddy Wa, skyrocketed me to fame with his relatable misadventures – a philandering family man, dodging his watchful wife and vetting unfortunate suitors for his beloved daughter. At its core, my content blends humor with social commentary, capturing everyday Nigerian life and sparking reflection long after the laughter fades.

Now, with over 16 million followers and a reach of more than 100 million users across my platforms, the Mr Macaroni brand is globally recognized, alongside my growing list of acclaimed acting credits. From honorary doctorate degrees to global film festivals, 2024 marked a defining moment in my career, cementing my place as a leading figure in Nollywood and the Nigerian entertainment industry at large.

Impact

My deep empathy drives my vocal advocacy. I was actively involved in the #EndSARS movement, protesting against police brutality, bad governance, and the reopening of the Lekki Toll Gate, where the Lekki Massacre occurred. My involvement led to my arrest, detention, and assault by the Nigerian police—an experience that only strengthened my resolve for reform.

I continue to use my platform to champion good governance, youth empowerment, and civic rights. Through my content and advocacy, I educate Nigerians on their rights and responsibilities as citizens, collaborating with organizations like Yiaga Africa for the Youth Vote Count campaign and SERAP for My Data, My Rights.

As a humanist, I am committed to philanthropy. My charitable efforts include partnerships with organizations like Lagos Food Bank, direct financial assistance through the Mr Macaroni Support Fund, and community building for creatives through the Mr Macaroni Theatre.

Mr. Macaroni Entertainment Ltd.

I founded Mr. Macaroni Entertainment Ltd in 2012 as a platform to create high-quality comedic content and social satire that entertain, educate, and spark important conversations.

Over the years, the brand has grown into a household name, with over 16 million followers across social media. My audience connects with the misadventures of Daddy Wa, Mummy Wa, Motunde, Professor Hardlife, and many more. My skits blend humor with real-life experiences, making them both relatable and thought-provoking. I’ve had the honor of collaborating with some of Nollywood’s finest talents and partnering with top brands along the way.

But beyond entertainment, our impact matters to me. The Mr Macaroni Theatre provides a free creative space for lovers of the arts, while the Mr Macaroni Support Fund offers financial aid to those in urgent need. I’m always looking for new ways to entertain, inspire, and drive change.

CASE STUDIES

  • GOLDBERG: A Partnership on Culture

My journey as a Goldberg Ambassador began in 2021, and since then, we’ve built something truly special—campaigns that celebrate culture, tradition, and the Gold Standard of enjoyment.

From nationwide Goldberg-branded parties to billboards and OOH marketing, my image has been part of major campaigns that connect with fans across Nigeria. Together, we’ve elevated the brand’s presence with multiple TVCs, including the Game On campaign for the Nigerian Super Eagles’ AFCON bid in collaboration with the Nigerian Football Federation, as well as dynamic product placements and digital content that resonate with millions.

In 2023, we introduced Goldberg Black, further expanding the brand’s reach while continuing to honor the Omoluabi spirit through cultural activations, giveaways, and meaningful collaborations—including a special campaign with His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife.

Four years in, and the journey keeps getting better. Cheers to more! 🍻

  • MIKANO: A Partnership of Influence

Winning the TrendUpp Force of Influence Award in 2023 for the second year in a row was an incredible honor. But I walked away with more than a plaque—I also drove off in a brand-new car courtesy of Mikano Motors. What started as a moment of recognition quickly evolved into a dynamic partnership built on prestige, power, and influence.

Throughout 2024, we brought this vision to life by seamlessly blending Daddy wa’s bold, charismatic persona with the luxury and sophistication of Mikano Motors. Through strategic brand placements, lifestyle-driven content, and informative skits, we crafted a narrative that felt as natural as it was compelling—more than an ad, it was a story that kept viewers hooked.

In 2025, we're shifting gears and taking the Macaroni x Mikano storyverse to new heights—refining our storytelling, using our characters more intentionally to connect with different audiences, and launching exciting activations along the way.

Buckle up! We’re just getting started. 🚩

  • SERAP, YIAGA, LAGOS FOOD BANK: Partnerships that make a Difference

Beyond entertainment, advocacy and community service have always been a core part of my journey. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with organizations dedicated to transparency, democracy, and social welfare—using my voice to drive meaningful conversations and action. With SERAP, we’ve championed accountability and citizens' rights through campaigns like #MyDataMyRights, raising awareness on data privacy and social media restrictions, and #AccountabilityNow, demanding transparency in government spending.

Partnering with Yiaga Africa and the European Union, we mobilized young Nigerians ahead of the 2023 elections with the #YouthVoteCount campaign—driving voter registration through mega concerts, outreach programs, and digital awareness initiatives. And with the Lagos Food Bank, we’ve extended a hand to those in need, providing food support to vulnerable communities.

Whether through brand partnerships or the initiatives of The Mr Macaroni Support Fund, these collaborations reflect a deep commitment to building a better society—one cause at a time. 🤍
